Anissa, a Black girl from Virginia, is set to finish her last year of undergraduate school. Anissa visualizes what her life may be like post graduation. Throughout the story, Anissa struggles with adjusting to life’s constant challenges and expectations. The pressure of not being able to clearly define what is next or even knowing what to do becomes overbearing. Life’s challenges and uncertainties force Anissa to accept loss and tragedy, that eventually allow her to embrace new challenges, heal from past wounds, and gain new priorities. She learns to control her destiny, find her purpose, and embrace joy in motherhood, while balancing mental wellness and self love.
